This mixed-use building has three stories of residential apartments over ground floor retail and
tuck-under parking in the Southside Park Neighborhood in Sacramento along 10th Street, a primary corridor to the Capitol. There are 21 total units, in a combination of studios and one-bedrooms, with larger 2-bedroom units at the corner. The contemporary design recalls some traditional elements, such as a projecting corner volume that is reminiscent of corner turrets, while the roof slopes up toward the north as a gesture toward the state capitol building. One of the required exit stairs is open on the south side to natural light and air – encouraging residents to use it as a health-conscious alternative to the elevator. The building fills a long-vacant gap in the City’s framework.
